I am guessing we have all heard about
the Bermuda Triangle, a place where so many ships and planes have just
disappeared without any sign of a fight or wreckage! No one has ever
returned from a visit to the Bermuda Triangle and it remains one of the
most mysterious places earth! Presenting some of the most famous
explanations for what goes on at the Bermuda Triangle.
10. Leftover technology from the lost city of Atlantis
One of the very famous reasons for the
happenings at the Bermuda Triangle is that perhaps at the same where the
City of Atlantis used to exist! That city is not considered lost so
people think that perhaps there is some connection between the weirdness
of the Bermuda triangle the city that is now where to be found! Since
it is a popular belief that the City of Atlantis was powered by crystals
so many also believe that it is the same crystals that are at work at
the triangle! Then there is also the fact that many theorists say that
the highly secretive military base called Area 51 is underwater which
explains the strange disappearances!
9. Time warps
I am sure you have all heard about those
portals that lead a person into another time frame; things that have
been referred to as a tear in the fabric of time in a lot of different
movies! Well this is the reason that is presented for the Bermuda
Triangle as well. As far as the statistics go more than 1000 lives have
been lost, more than 50 ships and a lot more than 20 planes have paid a
deathly homage to the Bermuda Triangle over the last 500 years! Some
people also say that the Bermuda triangle has blue holes, which are
supposedly places from where aliens travelled into the earth! The latest
addition to such theories being the idea of an electronic fog that is
causing the disappearances!
8. Alien abductions
As unlikely and unbelievable as this may
sound, this is actually a very popular reason people and scientists all
over the world give to explain what goes on at the Bermuda Triangle and
why! The accidents that went on their were highlighted supremely during
the year 1967 when the National Geographic reported the strange
phenomenon going on around the area where the Bermuda Triangle is
located! And you know how things are when such controversial things are
reported, people start making up stories of alien abduction and what
not! Of course people did not suggest exactly that but they did
speculate that the aliens were messing with the navigation system to
harm the people! Although the idea basically did not carry forward to
the 1970’s but still, the initial thoughts clinged to the minds of many
and the idea has served a famous movie plots as well.
7. Deliberate attacks of destruction
As with all other incidents that are
blamed onto the human act of war much more than anything else, the next
reason on the list is the deliberate attacks of destruction. So many
people think and many a scientist have speculated that the reason so
many ships and planes including Flight 99 have been destroyed is because
a testing of war missiles was going on and they got hit. They somehow
do not consider the facts that even if they were hit by artillery, where
are the remaining pieces of the wreckage or the dead bodies!
6. Methane Gas
The sixth reason in my list of reasons
explaining the strange happenings at the Bermuda triangle is touted to
be methane gas. It is reported that around the area where the Bermuda
triangle is located, there are vast fields of methane gas. Scientists
have conducted experiments to prove that if a bubble of methane gas is
large enough, it has the capability of sinking an entire ship because it
decreases the density of the water. They also explained that the
resultant wreckage might have floated up to the surface but almost
immediately it would be swept away by the furious Gul Stream. My
question, however, still remains the same, that even though the wreckage
got swept away, it would have been found somewhere! It cannot be gone
as in vanished can it?
5. Geomagnetic fields
Coming in at number five is the reason
that perhaps the geomagnetic fields mess with the navigational system
and lead the planes and ships away from the actual destination. This
would have made sense because if we consider the electronic fog thing
mentioned by McGregor and Gernon, it can be pretty unlucky for all on
board. But then again, say the geomagnetic fields did play with the
whole navigational equipment, where did the planes and ships go? They
couldn’t have disappeared because North wasn’t actually north, per se?
4. Gulf stream variations
Covering an area of around 40 to 50 mile
wide, the Gulf Stream can actually move at a velocity of 5.6 miles per
hour, carrying with it, whatever comes in the way! So this being a
reason can be accounted for but what about the planes then? They weren’t
running in the water were they? Curious, very curious!.
3. Weather and rogue waves
Some people also say that the weather
near the area and the famous Caribbean-Atlantic storms yield which bring
on further unpredictable weather can also be a cause of the
disappearances. The planes can be lost in the furious and destructive
hurricanes and the ships can get entangled in the rogue waves which can
be as high as 80 feet. Plausible yet with loop holes as this cannot have
been the case with all of them!
2. Human Error
Then we come to the most famous excuse
of all which is human error. Where I completely believe that to err is
human, but to put my curiosity to rest on the mere conclusion that the
planes disappeared due to bad pilots and ships sunk due to drunken
sailors. I think that is too much of a coincidence for so many deaths.
1. Sheer myth
The only explanation that would satisfy
me is this last reason which is no reason at all. I think we should just
admit that there is no plausible explanation for what goes on at the
Bermuda Triangle and we should let the future generations figure it out.
Now who wants more pizza?
